The third season of The Vampire Diaries will be filled with romance, ghosts, werewolves, and like past seasons, plenty of shocking deaths. Here is a sneak peek of what is ahead on season three.
While Stefan's Away, Will Damon and Elena Play?
Even though Elena is Stefan's girlfriend, she struggles with romantic feelings toward Stefan's brother, Damon. There is more time for sparks to develop further since Stefan is away on a killing rampage after making a deal with Klaus in which he agreed to drink human blood to save Damon. Ian Somerhalder (Damon) revealed that a big moment in the third season involves Damon giving Elena a birthday gift that is is unparalleled to any other gift she receives. Somerhalder wouldn't reveal the gift, but it is apparently something that will bring the two closer. Therefore, the love triangle continues as fans eagerly wait to find out how Elena will react when Stefan returns. Will she still be committed to Stefan or will she move on with Damon?
The Ghosts of Jeremy's Past
The second season of The Vampire Diaries left fans with a cliffhanger that the third season will explore: Jeremy has the ability to see the spirits of his dead ex-girlfriends, Vicki and Anna. The end of last season shocked fans with Jeremy's death, but soon after, he was brought back to life by his current girlfriend, Bonnie, who happens to be a witch. Many fans want to know why the dead girlfriends appear and what role they will play in Jeremy's life as well as how they will affect the lives of the other characters. One character that is sure to be affected by Jeremy's secret gift is Vicki's brother, Matt. He discovers Jeremy's gift and learns that he may be able to reconnect with his dead sister.
More Vampire Diaries Characters Will Be Killed Off
It is no secret that the writers like to shock the audience by killing off likeable main characters. The Vampire Diaries writer Julie Plec confessed that there will be much blood shed, and many characters that fans are attached to will not be surviving through the season. However, since the writers decided to bring back some of the popular dead characters, Plec hinted that it is possible that fans may see their other favorite characters return at least once.
Tyler and Caroline Spice Things Up
Tyler and Caroline will become closer, according to Plec. She revealed that the two will have a relationship similar to Romeo and Juliet. No word if the couple will end up like Romeo and Juliet, but Plec has hinted that Tyler's mom will find out that Tyler is a werewolf, and this might create some complications for the couple. Also, since Caroline is a vampire, and Tyler is a werewolf, it is likely that both of them will have opposition from fellow vampires and werewolves, considering that these two groups of supernatural beings have long been enemies. The relationship between Tyler and Caroline should be exciting to watch since these characters have an undeniable attraction toward each other, yet there are also many obstacles that will be difficult to overcome.
When To Tune In
The third season of the Vampire Diaries will begin September 15, 2011 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. So, fans should be sure to tune in or set their DVR since this is a premiere that should not be missed.
